City of Detroit Lakes Sports Arena

The Street & Park Committee acts as an advisory board to the City Council reviewing all aspects of operation and maintenance of the ice arena facility. The Street & Park Committee is instrumental in negotiation contracts with the user of the buildings. They meet on the Monday Before City Council at 1:30 p.m. The Street & Park Committee members are: Aldermen Bruce Imholte, Dan Wenner, Dan Josephson, David Ohman,and Karen Skoyles.
The Kent Freeman Arena is located near Detroit Lake at 1300 Rossman Avenue, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.

Click on the image to enlarge it in a new window.Detroit Lakes has two ice sheets; one has an 85' x 195' cement floor, 1500 seating capacity with sound system. The second is a practice sheet with an 85' x 200' cement floor. There are ten large dressing rooms available in the complex. The facility has a new ammonia refrigeration system with a capacity to operate both sheets even in the summer.  Click on the image in the upper left to enlarge it in a new window. The facility is available for rent at $200 for an afternoon event or use, or an evening event or use; $250 for the full day; $350 for the setup day and full day (out by noon of the following day).

International Hockey SchoolsThe Kent Freeman Arena is the home of the International Hockey School operated by Jason Power, 618-530-3531; 220 East State Street, Suite I-E O'Fallon IL 62269.  The International Hockey School is well established over many years with skaters and trainers coming from all over the world to learn and enjoy the sport of hockey. The International Hockey School takes place in the summer months allowing boys and girls to learn to improve their hockey skills while also enjoying the beautiful lake area with their families. There are several resorts and motel accommodations in close proximity of the hockey school. The school also provides the option of dormitory accommodations with meals for the skaters.
